The rise of far-right parties in Europe Comparative study between France and Germany (2008-2020)
Master Abstract
The presence of far-right parties in many European political systems is not a new or temporary phenomenon, as it dominated Europe between the two world wars and was among the reasons that led to the war. These parties continued to rise due to several different factors and because of the exploitation of crises such as the Corona crisis. Far-right parties played a major role in the political arena both internally and externally through success rates in the legislative, local and European elections, which was reflected on many issues in Europe.
The continued rise of these parties at the moment represents a crisis for the current regimes that exist because they adopt counter-political programs, particularly with regard to the refugee and migrant file, and a threat to the European Union because of the desire of these parties to leave the European Union as happened in Britain.
The study relied on the historical, descriptive and comparative methodologies to analyze the rise of far-right parties in Europe, compare this rise in two different countries, France and Germany, and study the reflection of the rise on the most important issues.
Keywords: Far-right; Refugees; European Union; Corona Crisis.
